Technical Information
Botox is a protein derived from the bacteria clostridium botulinum and is one of the worlds most deadly neurotoxins in the wrong hands. Gramme for gramme it is the most expensive substance on earth (which is a good reason to avoid the bargain basement £100 or less offers you see using substandard or watered down products). When injected in minuscule doses it blocks the signals telling them to move and relaxes the overlying skin. Once this movement has been reduced, it allows time for the skin to heal and repair. This means repeated treatments, over time, leads to smoother more youthful looking skin.
Anti-wrinkle injections take around 4-5 days to kick in and around 2-3 weeks to reach their maximum effect. Free follow up reviews at this time period allow for any adjustments to be made. This makes sure we achieve the best results for you. Results last around three to four months for most patients. Side effects are rare although you make experience minor bruising or redness at the injection sites. Some patients find they get a headache after the treatment which subsides quickly and is rare. Some patients, notably pregnant and breast feeding ladies, are unsuitable for this treatment.
As a prescription only medicine, anti-wrinkle injections can only be prescribed by doctors, dentists and nurse prescribers. We feel it should only be administered by the same.
